Have you ever thought about sending your portfolio, documents and contracts directly through Instagram? It seems that this will soon be possible.
According to the application researcher’s discovery Alessandro Palluzi in the backend of the app, Instagram is working on this new option: that you can attach your documents to direct messages (DMs).
This capability already exists in Meta
The news is not that new, since you can already send your documents in other Meta applications, such as WhatsApp and the Messenger.
However, the company is working to integrate its messaging platforms, so it makes sense that it would need to align the functionality of each to ensure parity.
So basically, all the features of Messenger, Instagram Direct, and WhatsApp will eventually be available in each of the other apps, as this will allow Meta to link them all into a single messaging system.
Why should I care?
While it’s not a huge change, given that Instagram app users already have it on their phones and the vast majority also have a messaging app installed, such as WhatsApp or Telegram, it could still be a useful update.
Many brands and companies maintain a connection with your customers through the app — especially those found there. This can be useful for these people, as they can send important documents and maintain this communication right there, without having to switch to another app or provide their number.
We’ll take a closer look at how it works once it’s released.
