I know professionals with various academic specialties who have failed to establish authority in the digital world. Now, let’s look at the five pillars that I consider essential:
1st Pillar: Digital Presence
To have an effective digital presence, it is crucial to be present and consistent on social media. Choose a platform and stay consistent with it. There’s no point in spreading your energy across multiple networks like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok if you can’t maintain a consistent presence.
2nd Pillar: Authenticity
Second, be authentic on social media. Don’t create a fictional persona; people connect with the real you, not some artificial persona.
3rd Pillar: Frequency
Thirdly, be frequent in your posts. Show that you are present every day, especially in Stories. Frequency builds trust and demonstrates authority. Remember: if you are not seen, you are not remembered. Choose a topic and be consistent with it.
4th Pillar: Consistency
However, consistency means maintaining a thematic focus and building authority on that topic. Avoid abrupt changes in subject matter that could confuse your followers. For example, if today you talk about digital marketing and tomorrow you start selling clothes, this could compromise your image and authority.
